On Thursday, May 24, 2018 Duthler Academy organized the National Privacy Event 2018 together with data protection officers. The event took place in the Louwman Museum in The Hague.
This event was dedicated to the hour U of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). After all, one day later, the time has come for the GDPR to apply and for the Authorities to enforce Personal Data.
All experts came together during this event, with the aim of sharing knowledge, gaining inspiration and networking with renowned parties from the market. Not only that, they also came to interact with more than 300 professionals involved in data protection, privacy, information security and cybersecurity.
The theme of the National Privacy Event 2017 is accountability, or the “notion of accountability”. The core of this is that the highest management level of the organization is responsible for monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of the protection of personal data. It must be able to demonstrate to stakeholders and regulators that data protection rules are effectively observed.
Of all the new obligations that the GDPR entails, accountability may have the most far-reaching consequences for those responsible. With less than a year to go before the GDPR becomes applicable, the National Privacy Event 2017 will therefore focus on the “notion of accountability”.
Time to reflect on the understanding, meaning and implications of the notion of accountability. This is done by various speakers from different angles. Be inspired by them and their experiences.
