The one-day training deals with the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) related to the requirements of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and then discusses both the theoretical framework of the DPIA (design and implementation) and the independent performance of a DPIA. .

On the basis of a case, the student will then independently perform a DPIA. You will receive practical tools in the approach and implementation of a DPIA. We then discuss the structural embedding of DPIAs in business operations.

Article 35 of the GDPR states that for processing, which is likely to pose a high risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons, the controller must carry out an assessment (DPIA) of the effect of the intended processing activities on the protection of personal data . The Dutch Data Protection Authority has recently established a definitive list of processing operations of personal data for which a DPIA is mandatory. After the implementation of the DPIA, you will have an insight into the risks for those involved and you can name improvement proposals to limit the risks.

The DPIA is a lifecycle because the management of an organization must manage the identified risks for the protection of personal data with effective control measures to an acceptable level. DPIAs must be periodically updated or performed again when changing the service / system.
