Overview of legislation on security and identity management
This module is part of course A1, ‘introduction to privacy legislation’. An important point of attention for data protection and privacy assurance is the organization of information security. Apart from this, more and more rules are being imposed from the perspective of information security and identity management, such as the European Network Information Protection Directive (NIB). After following this module, the candidate will have an overview of what is going on formally and legally in the field of information security and identity management. And how this relates to the legislation in the field of data protection and privacy.

Module A1c consists of one component, namely: an overview of legislation on security and identity management
Multidisciplinary knowledge is required to function as a Data Protection Officer (DPO). Knowledge in the field of legislation and regulations, organization, ICT, AO/IB and security. In order to be able to properly perform his advisory and supervisory tasks, the DPO must have the aforementioned multidisciplinary knowledge. It is therefore impossible to function properly as a DPO without thorough knowledge of privacy legislation. After the course, the participants know the main lines and concepts of the most important laws and regulations in the field of network information security, electronic trust services and identity management.
Obligations associated with this part
To fulfill the obligations under this section, you must:
- Make a diagnostic test, in preparation for the subject matter to be followed;
- Take a diagnostic test after the self-study, which must be completed with a pass. This is a condition for participation in the workshop;
- To be present during the workshop;
- A final exam with a passing mark.
Study load
The self-study takes about 16 hours, the workshop takes about 4 hours and the final exam takes about 2 hours.
