Overview Current Privacy Law

This module is part of course A1, ‘introduction to privacy legislation’. The participants learn the basic concepts of current privacy legislation, the principles and the various (privacy) roles in an organization. A brief introduction is given to privacy law in general, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the GDPR Implementation Act in particular. Privacy law is closely related to other laws and regulations, both national and international. Sometimes these legal regulations supplement the GDPR, sometimes they replace it. For this module it is sufficient if you are aware of the variety of laws.

This module is part of course A1, ‘introduction to privacy legislation’. Current legislation in the field of data protection and privacy is determined by the European privacy directive 95/46 / EC and its implementation in the national legislation of EU member states. In the Netherlands we refer to the Personal Data Protection Act (Wbp). In this module, the participants learn the basic concepts of current privacy legislation, the principles, the different (privacy) roles in an organization, the most important rights and obligations of the Wbp.

Obligations associated with this part

To fulfill the obligations under this section, you must:

  • Make a diagnostic test, in preparation for the subject matter to be followed;
  • Take a diagnostic test after the self-study, which must be completed with a pass. This is a condition for participation in the workshop;
  • To be present during the workshop;
  • A final exam with a passing mark.

Study load

The self-study takes about 16 hours, the workshop takes about 4 hours and the final exam takes about 2 hours.
